NZME. Educational Media in conjunction with Te Wananga O Aotearoa, developed Mahi Toa - a 52-week, home-based, NZQA approved programme targeting students who are unemployed, working in low paid jobs, or are looking to re-enter the workforce.

The programme has a distinct Māori male focus and flavour, with the core demographic 35-50 year old males. Mahi Toa was developed to motivate students to seek employment, increase employment opportunities and improve and expand career prospects. Additionally, it aims to encourage tauira to develop foundation literacy skills.

NZME. Educational Media's role involved everything from developing the branding for the programme, magazine content collation and editorial development, sourcing role models, layout design, image sourcing, proofing and printing, all while working closely with Te Wananga o Aotearoa and Open Wananga.

Additional resources included the design of DVDs, audios, and connected products relevant to the course aim.
