JETmag is New Zealand’s essential guide to life after school.

JETmag and JETmag.co.nz are full of all kinds of useful advice for school leavers about jobs, education, and training, plus some general tips on transitioning into the adult world. Aimed at Year 11–13 students, their parents, and school decision makers, each year, the annual print edition is distributed to every secondary school in New Zealand. JETmag has an engaged social media presence run by recent school leavers and a multi-format digital edition plus a brand new website. With our Editor being 20 years old and our website blog writers being at a similar age, JETmag reaches school leavers on their level and speaks their language.

Jobs: All the sectors are covered – from trades to professions, casual jobs to full-time work, we explain the workforce in an easy-to-understand manner. JETmag gives practical job-hunting advice, profiles inspiring young people in all types of jobs, and details career progression for various sectors, from NCEA to CEO.

Education: What does NCEA mean in the real world? Universities, ITPs/polytechnics, wānanga, private training establishments – JETmag explains the major tertiary players and what types of courses they provide.

Training: We cover in depth the Government’s Vocational Pathways (including the Creative pathway), providing clear information on training options within each pathway and the careers onto which they will lead.

Life: Options after secondary school aren’t always as cut and dried as choosing a course or job. Adjusting to adult life can be tricky for both students and their parents.

JETmag includes tips for parents on coping with an empty nest and advice for students on maintaining good physical and mental health.

How do I get a copy of JETmag?

Copies are circulated nationally to year 12–13 students each year. JETmag print copies are also available at the annual Career Expo events (Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Hamilton), and a multi-format digital edition is available for download from the Zinio app or get in touch via the jetmag website. So if not every student gets a print copy, options are still available!

Publicity

A significant press launch and promotional campaign accompanies each Career Expo event, ensuring maximum exposure to the target market. Publicity includes radio, outdoor, magazines, daily newspapers, educational titles, and social media.
